Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes the battle of London will not be determined only by the tactics on the pitch. The Argentine manager was speaking to Spurs' official website ahead of the crunch tie between the two sides of London.
The white side, which comprises of Spurs fans, will have to play the 12th man role when they welcome the visitors from the Blue side at the White Hart Lane for what promises to be a thriller. But sides are well-known for playing speedy but tactical football and Poch believes that a win goes way beyond the tactical approach.
It is for that reason that he has issued a rallying call to the club's fans to play the 12th man role in this tie. The Lane is famous of its vocal fans especially in derbies and Pochettino believes that this factor could be the game changer depending on how charged up the home fans are. He told the club's website:
“Like always our fans are great, a fantastic help.''
He added:
“The energy that they translate from the stands is unbelievable and I think all together we can beat Chelsea. We need only to try to spend our energy on trying to prepare for the game in the best condition.”
The visitors approach this match with an inferior record head to head, having won just one of their last 15 games. But the fact that Spurs are 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea, and that they would displace their rivals (Arsenal) from fourth with a win, gives them a good reason to put their best fight in this clash.
