The Benfica defender won’t come cheap, as revealed by the Portuguese paper.

The January transfer market hasn’t kicked in yet, but rumors of moves and bids are already invading the headlines. One of the hottest topics right now is that of Victor Lindelof.

If you have never heard of the defender, odds are you will very soon, as he is on the brink of a Man United move. A Swedish international, the center-back currently plies his trade with Benfica.

The deal is all but complete, with the Red Devils confident that it will be official once the January window opens. O Jogo have revealed details about the transfer, though, ahead of any confirmation.

According to the Portuguese newspaper, the 22-year-old will cost the 20-time Premier League champions around £38m in transfer fees. The player’s salary is expected to cost Man United £2.95m-per-year after tax.

British news outlet the Mirror also report a similar transfer fee. Furthermore, they have added further fuel to the transfer rumors by claiming Lindelof has already informed his friends that he will be leaving in January. The player, dubbed “Mourinho’s no.1 target”, will be a welcomed addition to their defense.
