A few key absentees, but one major return for Real Madrid

Saturday’s trip is a crucial game for both Madrid sides. Lose and Los Blancos could lose their lead to Barcelona; fail to triumph and Atletico will lose further ground in the title race. Hence the importance of winning this weekend is undeniable.

Unfortunately, Zidane has a few worries heading into this fixture. Benzema has been declared fit to play, but whether he can influence the game having just regained fitness. To make matters worse, Alvaro Morata is out for a month and is thus unavailable.

In midfield, Toni Kroos is injured, joining Casemiro on the sidelines. Pepe is also unlikely to feature. However, the table-toppers have been boosted by the return of captain Sergio Ramos.

The Spaniard is back and in contention to start at the Vicente Calderon. Zizou will be hoping that the center-back solves their defensive problems, having kept only one clean sheet in 11 games.

Atletico have a worrisome injury doubt in the form of Antoine Griezmann, as the Frenchman is nursing a foot injury. However, the odds are in his favor to start.
