Arsenal take on Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets today in the Champions League in Sofia.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged his men to win their Champions League group for the first time since the 2011/12 season. The Gunners have fallen victims of tough draws countless times after finishing second in their groups in their last four UCL seasons.

But now, the French tactician wants an improvement. By winning the group, the North Londoners will increase their chance of getting an easier opponent in the knockout round of the competition. Speaking to the media hours before this clash, Wenger said:

''It's our prime target to win the group, said Wenger. 'Step by step: qualify first. We have played Paris Saint-Germain away, and play them at home to come. We have a good opportunity tomorrow if we win.

''It is an advantage because you play the second game in the last 16 at home, so you know exactly what you have to achieve at home.

''You have the support. If it goes to extra-time or penalties, you play at home. So it's a little advantage.

''But if you can finish first, why finish second? We have paid the price many times when we've finished second, having to play Barcelona or Bayern Munich. So we think it's important.''

Wenger’s meb travel to Sofia on Tuesday to face Ludogorets for the second-leg of their fixture after winning the first leg 6-0 at the Emirates Stadium in London two weeks ago. But they will head to this trip without four of their key players – Theo Walcott, Santi Carzola, Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal. A win for the Gunners away from home will set up a thrilling group-decider clash against French giants Paris Saint-German in North London.
