Rumor has it that Buffon makes such mistakes once after every 150 years.

It is very unusual to see a goalkeeper of Gianluigi Buffon’s caliber making Mignolet-like blunders on the pitch. It is for that reason that football fans could not believe their eyes when the experienced Juventus shot stopper made a horrible mistake in the 55th minute of the World Cup qualifier tie between Italy and Spain.

The terrible goalkeeping mistake was the subject of discussion on social media with the majority of fans claiming that the captain was bound to make errors by virtue of being human. And considering the fact that he is 38 years old as still plays among players who are way below his age and experience, the World Cup winner for sure deserves a pat on the back.

As the ball advanced to his territory, Buffon could be seen pacing forward to clear it but just when he was about to, he embarrassingly missed it, and watched helplessly as the advancing Vitolo put the ball into the net. Watch the incident below:

But despite all that, Italy secured a late equalizer via Daniel De Rossi as the two sides played out to a one-all draw. Italy and Spain now sit at the second spot in Group C with four points each, while Albania lead the group with six.
