One more player to switch sides was David Luiz. On Tuesday, sources reported the Brazilian defender would return to Stamford Bridge, and negotiations were successful between Les Parisiens and the Blues, who bought the defender back for €38 million.

The Blues were one of the most active teams today, with Juan Cuadrado returning to Juventus on a new three-year deal on loan.

One of the most expected transfers involved Liverpool outcast Mario Balotelli. The former Italian international will continue his career playing for OGC Nice, hoping he can re-build his reputation as a top striker.

Back to Stamford Bridge, the Blues confirmed the signing of Marcos Alonso later today.
