Ancelotti's Future Vs Torres' Role At Chelsea & The Blues' Chance To Embarrass Man United

Carlo Ancelotti is seemingly prepared to give Fernando Torres a chance to break his goal-barrier for Chelsea when they take on West Ham tomorrow. Live Soccer TV analyzes the situation.

What a season have Chelsea had this season. It has been rather poor but the fact that they are still basically in the title race does not signify that. They started the season with regular displays of 'PlayStation' football that caught the eyes of many. But that one night at the Stamford Bridge against Sunderland was the simple beginning of a very dark period for Carlo Ancelotti and his men. Perhaps even the sacking of Ray Wilkins prompted them too. Who knows?

But it was that one occasion where Steve Bruce's men left London beaming with pride having just delivered a knock-ouy blow to the defending Premier League champions. I mean, who would have expected it to be the beginning to a very poor period in the Blues' calendar. After all, Ancelotti was being hailed as the saviour after guiding them to an unprecedented double last season. But, months have passed since and god knows the amount of pressure that has been lying on Ancelotti's back, waiting to explode any minute.

Scotland vs Brazil presents a fresh opportunity for Brazil’s next generation of superstars to develop even more. The spotlights will be on Neymar, David Luiz, Ganso, Ramires and Lucas.
Gone are the days where Ronaldinho, Kaka, Robinho and Ronaldo were the driving forces behind Brazil’s machine gun. Ronaldo has retired whereas the international career of Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho is mysteriously becoming a story of the past – although these three players are yet to draw a line between their football for Brazil and retirement.

Call-ups have been rare in recent times for the players that used to be regular faces in Brazil’s senior national team. After the country’s unconvincing showing during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the cry for new blood in the Brazilian team grew up louder. The Canarinho feel they can’t waste more time leaning on the big names only, when new talent is being produced in the country every year.

“[Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich] has decided to put big money in, and that tells you more will come in the summer.”

Chelsea’s transfer deal to sign Benfica’s David Luiz has all but died. Once again, money spoke out louder than anything at a point when the defender looked well on his way to landing at Chelsea.
The Sun explained that the Blues bolstered their bid for David Luiz by offering £23M to Benfica as well as young midfielder Nemanja Matic. But apparently, it didn’t impress the Portuguese club. Discussing the issue, an insider from Chelsea was quoted as saying by The Sun:

“The club made an improved offer and included Matic in the hope of finally clinching a deal. But Benfica said again that they were not interested.

“They want much more, so it looks pretty bleak.”

According to reports, Benfica have set a £30M price tag on David Luiz. Earlier in January, Chelsea lost out to Tottenham Hotspur for the transfer of Steven Pienaar.

The Guardian has reported that the Blues are hopeful of agreeing terms late on Monday. In the meantime, the club is also waiting for a reply to their application for David Luiz’s work permit.
