Arsene Wenger has confirmed a new deal for Arsenal forward.

It seems like Arsenal fans will have to wait a little bit longer to land a big-name signing this summer as Arsene Wenger continues to have faith in his current crop of players. The French tactician has been under pressure to sign a center forward and a defender before the transfer window slams shut. And now, he has revealed that 21-year-old winger Serge Gnabry is set to sign a new contract with the gunners this summer. Although this may not be the kind of news every Arsenal fan wants to hear right now as far as big-money transfers are concerned, Wenger seems to have confidence in the Germany international.

Gnabry has been in sensational form for his national team at the Rio Olympics, having scored six goals so far in the competition to guarantee a place for his country in the final. Sky Sports quotes Arsene Wenger as saying:

“I want to keep Serge Gnabry and extend his contract. I think we stood by him. He went to West Brom, didn’t play, we had to rebuild his confidence. I allowed him to go to the Olympics to help Germany. I think he’s here now for a long time.”

This comes at a time when a number of European clubs, such as Hertha Berlin, are reportedly hunting for Gnabry’s signature. His contract with the Emirates outfit ends this summer and Wenger is keen on pinning him down with a new one.

He joined Arsenal’s youth team from German side Stuttgart in 2011. He then made his debut for the senior team in 2012, but has only managed to play 10 league games and score one goal since 2012. He was later offloaded to West Bromwich Albion on loan in 2015 and only made one league appearance for the Baggies.
