Emmanuel Petit believes that paying 100 million pounds to sign the French midfielder is too much right now, since he hasn't lived up to the expectations.

One of France's most respected ex-footballers blasted Les Bleus' midfielder Paul Pogba. Former Arsenal & Barcelona midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes that Pogba hasn't lived up to the £100M price tag placed by Juventus, stating that the team that pays that amount of money would be making a serious mistake.

The 1998 World Cup and 2000 Euro winner with Les Bleus doesn't believe Pogba is worth that much money, since he "is not a big star".

"They say £100m…..it is a waste of money for me. Pogba has a great future, but this move is too early for him. I don't like the situation around him all the time. We are making him out to be a big star, but he is not a big star to me," Petit stated.

The midfielder scored only one goal in six matches for Les Bleus in the European championship.

The footballer-turned-pundit, who scored 6 goals in 63 games for the French National Team, hinted that if his compatriot had been a top performer, Real Madrid would have splashed cash to sign him, rather than sit on the back and wait for others to do so.

"People talk about him all the time in the press, but I haven't seen it yet. If Real Madrid wanted this player, they would put the money on the table, but they don't want to fight with Man United for Pogba. There is a reason for that," Petit added.

Pogba's future has been the subject of controversy all summer, with Manchester United seemingly keen on paying £100 million to sign the player. Nevertheless, the midfielder has assured he is in no rush to sign a new contract with either Juventus or the Red Devils, hinting that he could stay with the bianconeri after the summer.
