Arsenal and Chile star Alexis Sanchez has raised fears among the club’s fans regarding his fitness levels ahead of the new season. The ex-Barcelona forward posted photos of his horrific ankle injury on Twitter a week after a nasty challenge from Gabriel Mercado during Chile’s Copa America Centenario against rivals Argentina. The lethal forward was taken off the pitch in extra time as Chile successfully defended the title they had won in 2015.
Although the 27-year-old claimed that he was fine, the appearance of the injury showed exactly how bad it was. He used the following caption in the first tweet:
'Fourth day of my vacation, locked up in the hotel bored hahaha.... But I'm already much better.'
Cuarto día de mis vacaciones, encerrado en el hotel aburrido jajaja... Pero ya estoy mucho mejor.pic.twitter.com/i0KN0JBsnE

In his second tweet, he added: 'Your body can endure almost everything... it is your mind that you have to convince'.

Sanchez is expected to join the Gunners in their pre-season tour of the United States where they are set to play a series of friendly matches. He was one of the key players for Arsene Wenger’s side last season having scored 17 goals in 40 appearances.
