La Vinotinto took the lead against Mexico before the first 15 minutes thanks to a proper use of set pieces.

Venezuela wasted no time to make their presence felt at NRG Stadium, and they did it scoring quite an impressive volley.

A free kick ended up into the back of Mexico's net, following some poor defending by El Tri's center backs. Frank Feltscher managed to send a headed cross into Mexico's 5-yard box for José Manuel Velazquez to hit. Velázquez wasted no time and scored quite an acrobatic shot, making Jesus Corona's attempt to clear the ball futile.

Have a look at Velázquez's finish.
