The Portuguese boss doesn't want to be distracted by his rivalry with the Spanish boss, considering it would affect the team's chances of success.

Landing Manchester United's coaching job could be just what Jose Mourinho needed to stop fighting with Pep Guardiola...for the moment, that is.

Following his first appearance at Manchester United's AON Training Complex earlier today, The Special One spoke about his well-known rivalry with Pep Guardiola, who is set to start his term as Manchester City's boss next month. With that in mind, Mourinho hinted that beating Guardiola will not be his sole matter of concern once the season begins, considering the Red Devils' chances of success would be hurt if he decided to do so.

"If in the Premier League I were to focus on him and Manchester City and he were to focus on me and Manchester United, someone else would be champion. My experience does not allow me to be naive. I was in Spain for two years, where the champion would be me or him," Mourinho stated.

Mourinho and Guardiola became bitter rivals while coaching Real Madrid and Barcelona, despite having worked together years ago with Los Blaugranas.

Fans around the world are eager to see the showdown between the two experienced managers. Even if he doesn't want to focus on what could come when his team faces the Sky Blues, Mourinho revealed what will be the main thing Guardiola will encounter when coaching Manchester City.

"The level of the Premier League is going to get better with the players and coaches who will come. Four champions in four years shows how competitive it is, it is different to other leagues where the sharks will always be sharks," Mou added.

Both teams are expected to play a friendly match on July 25th.
