Captain John Terry may not leave Chelsea after all.

An emotional John Terry revealed his plans for the future in front of thousands of Chelsea fans who had turned up for the final league game against newly-crowned champions Leicester City. The Blues captain inspired his side to a one-all draw with the Foxes.

Midfielder Cesc Fabregas had opened the scoring for the hosts but Danny Drinkwater drew things level with a 30-yard strike. After the game, all eyes were on Terry, who was expected to decide his future in front of the thousands of fans clad in blue and white. Of course, he did not disappoint.

Filled with emotions, the former England international said:

“The best moments of my life have been in this stadium. From myself and all the players I’d like to say a big thank you. Just before I sign off I’d like to say a huge thank you to Guus Hiddink.”

Originally, he sounded like he was bidding farewell to Chelsea fans before joining an MLS side, if the recent reports about his future were true. But just as he was about to conclude, Chelsea fans started chanting:

‘’John Terry, we want you to stay!’’

And those magical words seemed to have changed his mind. Whilst holding back the tears, he replied:

“I want to be here for the rest of my career. I want to stay.”

The fans erupted into wild cheers, including club owner Roman Abramovich who kept on smiling and clapping for the 35-year-old club legend. This comes at a time when the club had confirmed that they had offered the defender a one-year extension to his contract, but he is yet to sign it officially.
