Leicester City star Jamie Vardy is not having a party this time round, but instead, he is having an academy.

After rising from grass to grace to become one of the most sought-after talents in the world of football, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has decided to pave way for those who would like to walk in his footsteps. The England international has penned a deal with Zig Zag Productions to produce a docu-series that will see him scout for the next big name in the game.

The docu-series dubbed ''Jamie Vardy’s Having an Academy’’ will focus on non-league talent and promote them to the professional level, just like Vardy did in his rise from grass to grace.

The main objective of the three-part series, which will last for an hour each, is to provide the selected candidates with educational experience whilst preparing them for top-flight football.

The first intake will be held in May 2017 at Manchester City’s training grounds. A total of 42 players will be selected, and then divided into three teams consisting of 14 players each. The three teams will undergo a 5-day residential training program.

Speaking moments after striking the deal, Vardy said:

“I’m looking forward to working with the Zig Zag Productions team on the documentary about the V9 Academy,

“I hope the series encourages footballers to give it another go and keep on fighting like I did.”

The 39-year-old started his career with the Stockbridge Park Steels back in 2007, joined FC Halifax Town in 2010, moved to Fleetwood Town in 2012, and later joined Leicester City in 2012. At LCFC this season, he has scored 24 league goals in 36 appearances, and provided 6 assists.
