Last Sunday, Liverpool traveled to Swansea City's Liberty Stadium for the 36th matchday of the English Premier League, as they were hoping to boost their confidence with a win before their important match in the Europa League.

However, things did not work as planned for the eighth place contenders. Due to a catastrophic performance by the Reds, the away side was not able to extend their points on the table after Swansea City beat Klopp's men 3-1.

Regardless of their beating prior to the important Europa League semi-final against Spanish club Villarreal, Jurgen Klopp has confessed that Liverpool’s loss to Swansea was not ‘completely senseless.’ Furthermore, the former Dortmund manager left several of his key players on the bench for this league fixture in order to have them rest for Thursday's crucial showdown, which might have been a contributing factor to Liverpool's loss.

During the post-match conference, Klopp stated how he believes this loss against 13th place contenders Swansea City will aid his team going into the second leg of Europa League semi-finals.

He said, “Usually a game like today is completely senseless, because you lose it 3-1. But if you take the information from this game - what influenced the performance, and why we played like this - then we will use this as information for the squad for the Villarreal second leg.”

Klopp continued, “I’m not in the mood to find excuses, but it’s the truth. We came back at Friday morning, and then we play now! I think we could have played better today, and with a better performance, it is a completely different game. It’s not my first defeat, and it won’t be my last.”

After two consecutive losses, Coutinho and Co. hope to find themselves a victory against the Yellow Submarines in order to clinch a ticket to the final of the Europa League.
