The Swedish striker will be a free agent this summer and has thus been linked with a Premier League switch.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic nears the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and will thus become a free agent this summer when his current deal expires.

The 34-year-old striker has done little to suggest he’ll continue plying his trade in Ligue 1, with the Swede confessing earlier last month that as of now he’ll leave PSG when the season wraps up.

Transfer rumors have linked the former AC Milan striker with a switch to the Premier League, with a Manchester United move dominating the headlines, albeit it was recently speculated that Zlatan will only sign for the Red Devils should Van Gaal be replaced.

However, team-mate and Les Parisiens captain Thiago Silva has warned Ibrahimovic against joining the English top-flight, claiming that it will be a step down in quality from Parc des Princes.

Having enjoyed success in Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and now France, English football remains an unexplored territory for Ibrahimovic, yet the Brazilian center-back feels there is no club in the Premier League that can offer Zlatan the same quality as Laurent Blanc’s side.

"He is my good friend, but also at 34 he is playing the best football of his career," the Brazilian defender told the Daily Mirror.

"He is one of the best in the world, he is unique, there is not another player like him. Of course I want him to stay at PSG, I cannot imagine us without him.

"I know he has offers from England - and it is a big league - but I don't think there is a team in England that is at the level of PSG at the moment. For me it would be a step down in quality for him."

PSG have already secured their 4th consecutive French league crown, and sit 28 points clear of second-placed Lyon.

Thiago Silva’s comments come just before the club take on one of England’s biggest clubs – Man City – at the Etihad in the 2nd leg of their quarter-final match-up, with the score currently tied at 2-2.
