Brazilian defender Dani Alves revealed why the club was 'happy' after finding out they would have to face the Gunners in the UEFA Champions League's Round of 16.

Usually, prior to any match, players from both sides share their views on how the opposition can complicate the game in hand. This time, Brazilian right back Dani Alves chose not to do so, blasting their UEFA Champions League opponents with a series of comments about their lack of "mental strength".

In an interview published by The Mirror, Alves revealed that Barça's players were relieved after finding out they would face the Gunners, given that their English opponents possess great skills, but end up falling apart under pressure.

"When the draw was made, we knew it could have been tougher for us. That is no reflection on the quality of Arsenal. The quality of the way they play the game and the quality of some of their players is there for all to see. It is a reflection on their experience, character, and mental strengths,"Alves said.

The outspoken defender went on and, without mentioning any names, added that Los Blaugranas would've faced clear danger of elimination if they had been paired up with other opponents.

"There are teams in Europe that don't have the quality that Arsenal have, but you would rather avoid them and play Arsenal - because you know that those teams have experience and character," the South American player added.

Finally, Alves referred to Los Blaugranas' two-goal lead after the first leg, claiming there will be no laying back when they host Arsene Wenger & Co.

"It is not just consecutive Champions League titles we are chasing but also consecutive trebles. It is a big challenge, but all the players are dreaming big. Arsenal do have quality, and when they are at their best they can achieve special things, so from us there will be no complacency,"the player concluded.
