The former Chelsea doctor filed a lawsuit against Mourinho after being separated from her first-team duties by the Portuguese manager.

Jose Mourinho may be the top contender to take control of Manchester United's hot seat, but he has some unfinished business to take care of first.

According to the Daily Mail, The Special One's future with the Red Devils would be put on hold if he fails to reach an agreement with former staff member Eva Carneiro. Mourinho criticized the former Chelsea doctor after she rushed into the pitch to help Eden Hazard in this season's Opening Day, labelling her as "impulsive and naive". Carneiro was subsequently banned from working with the first team, and she ended up leaving the club in September. Months later, she filed a lawsuit against Chelsea for "constructive dismissal", while her attorneys expect to collect substancial damages from the club.

Furthermore, Carneiro filed a personal lawsuit against Mourinho, who she accused of "victimization and discrimination" which led to her losing her position with the Blues.

Mourinho's future could be put on hold as the court trying his case against Carneiro could reveal emails and text messages by the Portuguese manager as evidence. If the trial continues once the current EPL season is over, Mourinho could miss out on the opportunity to coach the Red Devils.

The former Chelsea doctor, who attended a private hearing on Monday, denied both parties were getting close to a deal, while she has also stated that she expects a public apology from Mourinho, one of the keys to solve the legal entanglement between them.
