Los Blancos eyed another Premier League boss, as questions are starting to be raised over Zidane’s ability to lead the Spanish giants.

Fans hailed the move, and it all began well, but cracks are already starting to appear in Real Madrid’s decision to appoint Zinedine Zidane as first-team manager after sacking Rafael Benitez.

After 9 games in charge, the Frenchman’s numbers show no improvement over that of Los Blancos’ former manager, with fears that the once Galacticos in not sufficiently prepared to guide the Spanish giants.

As written by El Pais, crisis has broken behind the scenes in the wake of the 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid, the 10-time Champions League winners’ third consecutive Santiago Bernabeu loss to their next-door rivals.

According to report, Zidane will continue to get the full backing of the board, but El Pais claim that this is down to the lack of suitable substitutes for the 1998 World Cup winner.

Furthermore, as written in the report, Real Madrid negotiated with former manager Jose Mourinho throughout January with the hopes of re-hiring The Special One, despite his rocky relationship with the club and players which lead to his 2013 exit.

However, El Pais claim the manager’s agent Jorge Mendes ended all talks, with Real Madrid’s corporate CEO Jose Angel Sanchez later finding out that Jose had signed a pre-agreement with Manchester United.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently leading Spurs’ surprise title challenge, was also eyed by the Madrid giants, but Florentino Perez is unwilling to do business with chairman Daniel Levy after the “bad experience” suffered in the Gareth Bale deal.

El Pais write that Real Madrid have made moves for German national team boss Joachim Low, but despite rejecting the club twice, Les Merengues may return for the manager after Euro 2016.
