The Chilean midfielder chose to join Bayern Munich instead, considering the Bavarian side had a more ambitious project than their English counterparts.

It wasn't an easy choice to make, but it was the right one.

Former Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal revealed in an interview with The Times he turned down a possible transfer to join Manchester United last summer, since the idea of working with Pep Guardiola seduced him a bit more.

"Last summer, I thought the best option for me was moving to England. Manchester United was ready to give me a warm welcome, and at one point I thought that was going to happen. I was happy with what they were offering, but in the end, Bayern's ambitious project caught my eye and I ended up signing with them," Vidal revealed.

The 28-year-old has scored two goals and handed out three assists in 22 Bundesliga games with Die Roten.

The 2015 Copa América champion with Chile hinted that there was one more reason for him to join the Bundesliga champions instead of signing with the struggling Red Devils.

"The chance of working with Pep Guardiola was something I didn't want to miss. Besides, I wanted to play for a team as big as Juventus, and Bayern's project was very ambitious, so that's why I chose them over other teams," the midfielder added.

Vidal is expected to start for Bayern against Juventus on Tuesday, and while he knew there was a huge chance of running into them during the continental tournament, he sure wanted both teams to play against each other at a later stage.

"It will be quite strange facing them this early into the tournament. I would've loved to play against them in the Finals, but fate wanted it to happen right now. I love that club as much as they love me, since they helped me grow both as a professional and as a person," Vidal concluded.
