Leo's salary for next year has been revealed, plus why selling the Argentine could cost the Blaugrana financially.

Given the non-stop rumors linking Lionel Messi with a move away from Camp Nou, ones even the player himself could not stop, exactly what are figures involved should the Argentine be sold?

ARA has lifted the lid on this issue, revealing all regarding the 28-year-old attacker’s current deal with the Blaugrana and his buy-out clause.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is contracted with the Catalan giants until 2018, having extended his deal back in 2014, setting his buy-out clause at a staggering €250m.

This means that any club interested in Leo’s services will have to be financially blessed, which is why it is of no surprise that Man United, Man City, Chelsea, and PSG are the only sides linked with La Pulga.

This, though, is no kept secret; however, ARA has also revealed some previously unknown details of Messi’s contract.

For instance, having guided Barcelona to five trophies in 2015 – the Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup – Messi is set for a huge pay raise this summer.

Lionel Messi, Malaga, Barcelona, La Liga

Currently earning €22.8m, his wage will be bumped up to €39.4m, which roughly translates into 73% increase.

However, a compensation clause was embedded into the Argentine’s Barca contract, which means should the Blaugrana decide to sell their number 10 superstar before his pay raise, they will be charged a compensation worth €19,941,000.

This compensation will decrease heavily, though, should the Catalan giants sell their key asset next year to a mere €9.97m.

Of course, selling the player appears out of the question, with Messi himself ruling out a Camp Nou exit.
