The Reds have seemingly recovered after a 3-0 battering at the hands of Watford to record two consecutive 1-0 wins at the expense of Sunderland and Leicester City. They will now be aiming to make it three wins in a row against a West Ham side which is unbeaten in seven Premier League home games.
Jurgen Klopp's side will begin a hectic month of January which will see them play seven games in just 25 days including matches against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United as well as a League Cup Semi-Final. The German tactician however is not concerned about the congested fixture list and his hoping that his side can do well during the period.
"I can't say at this moment I've been waiting all my life for Liverpool v Manchester United or Liverpool v Arsenal. We must wait for the next game," he told reporters.
"For us, it's work — and we love it. We have four-games-plus more than most of the other teams this month. That's intense but that's because we've been successful and we have to deal with that."
"The good thing in this moment is we have played different styles and adapted against special opponents," he remarked.
"That is the next step. It is not what we always want to do but at a time like this football is not easy."
The Hammers on the other hand are currently eighth in the league table just one point behind Liverpool. West Ham won the reverse fixture comfortably by a 3-0 score line thanks to goals from Manuel Lanzini, Mark Noble and Diafra Sakho.
Liverpool will be without captain Jordan Henderson who picked a knock during the victory over Sunderland with vice captain James Milner also likely to remain on the sidelines due to a calf problem. Divock Origi and Martin Skrtel will also be unavailable because of hamstring problems.
West Ham are likely to welcome back influential playmaker Dimitri Payet, alongside Nikica Jelavic and Aaron Cresswell. Enner Valencia will be unavailable after picking a knock during the victory over Southampton whereas Victor Moses and Winston Reid are unlikely to be match fit ahead of the tie.
