Inter Milan lost to AS Roma last weekend in the Italian Serie A, so how will they fare against Werder Bremen in the UEFA Champions League? Esteban Cambiasso prefers to stay positive...
Internazionale have experienced mixed results this season and the team is yet to adjust to Rafael Benitez’s plans since Jose Mourinho’s departure. A 2-2 draw against FC Twente was all that the UEFA Champions League titleholders could earn in the Netherlands as they kicked off their 2010/2011 European campaign two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Group A contenders Werder Bremen picked exactly this same result at home to Tottenham Hotspur that same night. However, the Germans may be the happiest of all four teams in their table based on the manner in which they drew. The fact that they succeeded in grabbing at least a point, after going down by two Spurs goals, offered more positives than negatives to Werder Bremen and to their supporters.

Ahead of match-day two in the UEFA Champions League, Werder Bremen are expected to show a lot of character and thus put up a real fight against Inter Milan at the San Siro. So besides Internazionale’s poor start in Europe and disappointing result last weekend, Coach Rafael Benitez will need to guide his men to overcome Bremen’s threat.

Whereas some doubt Inter Milan’s chances of triumphing in their second UEFA Champions League match this season, Esteban Cambiasso reminded supporters of the team’s desire. As he spoke to Inter Channel ahead of Inter Milan’s home match against Werder Bremen, the midfielder stated:

“Fans must expect an Inter Milan side that always wants to be the protagonist. Our desire is the same. We want to keep winning.”

Just as all champions reason, the Nerazzurri want to continue walking on the glorious path which led them to UEFA Champions League success last season. But on the second match-day of the competition, the Italians may have to deal without Javier Zanetti, Pandev, and Diego Milito since the three players are doubtful in terms of fitness.

Eventually, Samuel Eto’o could be given a more important role to play upfront for Inter Milan against Werder Bremen. Remarkably, another issue – besides Inter Milan’s injury problems – could get in the way of the Nerazzurri on Wednesday night: according to reports, the Cameroonian’s “selfish” attitude in Internaizionale’s defeat to AS Roma last weekend has divided the club’s dressing room.

So how will Inter Milan react as a team against Werder Bremen? Esteban Cambiasso gave out the answer:

“We [Inter Milan] have stay calm. We’ve got the experience of difficult seasons. We need to believe in this team, and carry on working.”
