Both teams have ten points and are looking for the lead of Group C. Fernando Torres hopes to score his 100th goal with Atletico this Tueday.

The Estadio da Luz gets ready to host an electrifying match between Benfica and Atletico Madrid. With both sides already into the next round of the UEFA Champions League, winning this game is mostly important so they can secure the top spot in Group C.

Close Game Ahead

In the first game between thsese two teams earlier in the season, it was Benfica who won on the road by 2-1, and that could give them the advantage in case this Tuesday's game ends in a draw. Right now, both teams are leveled with ten points each.

It is easy to believe that this will be a very close game. Both teams have scored nine goals after five games and have had a similar percentage of ball posession during the tournament. Benfica has shown to be a more physical team with 18 yellow cards and one red card up until this point, while Atletico only has three yellows.

In Benfica's roster there are five players that did not have much luck with Atletico. Raul Jimenez is a prime example. The Mexican striker was coming off a hot streak in the Liga MX before joining the former La Liga champions. In one season with Los Colchoneros, he only scored once and was then transfered to Benfica.

Atletico is getting better and better as the season progresses. Ever since losing against Benfica, they have gone on a 12 game unbeaten streak, including nine wins and three draws. They are currently in second place of La Liga behind Barcelona with 32 points, only trailing by two.

Antoine Griezmann is enjoying more and more success in his second season with the team. The French attacker is on a roll and has scored five goals in Atletico's last five games. Atletico's defense is also making a buzz, having received only nine goals in all competitions since the 2015-2016 season started.

On the other side, Benfica's defense is working well. They have not conceded a single goal in their last four wins. Four of their players must be careful in this match as they are only one game away from accumulating enough yellow cards for a one-game suspension.

If Benfica wants to win this game, they must get past one of Europe's best goalkeepers, someone they know really well. Jan Oblak was an almost unpenetrable wall in last year's Champions League, a few seasons earlier, Oblak was developing his skills with Benfica, where he was part of a cup double in 2013-2014.

People around the world should be tuning in to see this match for the following reason. Fernando Torres is one goal shy of the 100-goal mark with Simeone's Atletico. While he has been on a long goal drought, it will sometime could come to an end and in a Champions League game could be the moment to do it.
