The Barca ace claims he meant no harm during Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Mestalla.

Luis Suarez has been through several controversies in his career, with the Uruguayan ace being punished for an alleged racial abuse of Patrice Evra, whilst also committing three biting felonies, with the last resulting in a four-month ban.

As a result, it is no surprise that the Barcelona man was quick to respond to claims that the 28-year-old purposely stamped on Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour.

The two clashed in the Blaugrana’s trip to Mestalla over the weekend, with the Liga BBVA leaders drawing 1-1 after Suarez’s controversial opener was cancelled out by Santi Mina in the 86th minute.

However, the former Liverpool ace dominated the post-match talk after he was pictured stamping on Valencia’s Tunisian defender, with the Blanquinegros man posting a picture of his scars from his skirmish with Suarez on social media.

The Barcelona superstar, though, was quick to profess his innocence, brushing off the clash between him and Abdennour as a mere accident common in everyday football.

"It was accidental, which is why I apologised straight away. These things happen between forwards and defenders; they're typical skirmishes that are forgotten about afterwards. It happened to me two games ago, but I don't think it should be made a big deal of,” revealed Suarez.

A member of the Uruguayan striker’s entourage also revealed that the player is keen on staying away from controversies, as his only goal now is to maintain his current form with Luis Enrique’s crew, one which has seen him net 13 goals for the Catalan giants this term.

"Lots of incidents like that take place in every match. It only hit the headlines because Abdennour posted a photo of his wounds on social media and because of Suárez's profile and reputation.

"Luis doesn't want any more controversy. He's doing his thing and is only thinking about scoring and setting up goals, and helping the team as best he can. He's not interested in anything else… He doesn't want another situation like the one at the World Cup."
