Both ruled out for their Sunderland and Olympiakos ties, Arsenal might have to do without the Spaniard and Chilean for longer than initially expected.

It is safe to say it: Arsenal and injury crisis are synonymous. Season after season, strides to cut down on the club’s constant fitness issues are taken, but they fail miserably.

This campaign has been no exception, with the Gunners currently suffering in the English Premier League in the absence of Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta, and Tomas Rosicky.

And just when things appeared to be letting up, with the north London giants welcoming back Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez both suffered injuries in the 1-1 draw with Norwich, with the latter succumbing to a hamstring injury.

Fears were that the Chilean ace would be out for six weeks; however, the Daily Mirror reported positive news for Arsenal fans, revealing that the former Barcelona ace could be back by December 21, in time for their Emirates Stadium clash with Manchester City.

Unfortunately for the FA Cup holders, British tabloid The Sun claim that the injuries to Santi, who played a full 90 minutes in Saturday’s Carrow Road trip, and Alexis are worse than initially feared.

The Spaniard and Chilean have both been ruled out for Arsenal’s Sunderland tie and their all-important Champions League clash with Olympiakos, whilst they remain a doubt for the club’s trip to Aston Villa on December 13.

However, according to The Sun, the absence of both Santi and Alexis could extend to the London giants’ Boxing Day Southampton fixture and their home encounter with Bournemouth.

Le Prof’s side, though, could soon be bolstered by the return of Englishman Theo Walcott, whose successful road to recovery could see him possibly make the bench for Saturday’s Sunderland clash
