The 20 year old goalkeeper stopped two penalties during the shootout. Drogba failed to score in the two games against Columbus Crew.

The conference finalists in the MLS have been decided and almost every game in this series has been full of excitement. FC Dallas is into their first Conference under the management of Oscar Pareja. In another game, Columbus Crew came from behind to eliminate Didier Drogba and Impact Montreal.

FC Dallas vs Seattle Sounders

The first 80 minutes of this game had nothing to with the last ten of regular time, the 30 of extra time and the penalty shootout with which the match was decided. Dallas was trailing 1-2 after the first game and got their first goal of the night in the 84th minute thanks to Tesho Akindele.

That would send FC Dallas directly to the Conference Final but Seattle reacted quickly with a goal in the 90th minute. Now, things were favoring the visitors. It was a matter of minutes to knock out the Western Conference champions at their own ground but Walker Zimmerman scored again on a corner kick just seconds after Seattle's equalizer.

What had been 83 quiet minutes on the scoreboard turned into six exhilarating minutes by the end of regulation time with three goals that would send the game to overtime. In the following 30 minutes, nothing major happened so the Conference Finalist had to be decided in a penalty shootout.

The goal that sent the game into overtime

Just as it was expected, the goalkeepers had most of the responsibility here. For FC Dallas, Gonzalez (20) was in his first penalty shootout experience with the first team and facing a goalkeeper on the other side that was nine years older than him and quite taller as well.

The home-grown talent that has represented Mexico in an U-20 World Cup faced the challenge like a veteran. He was not able to stop Clint Dempsey's first penalty but he did stop Andreas Ivanschitz and Chad Barrett's shots.

After FC Dallas players had scored all their three first penalty shots, they just needed Zimmermann to convert his opportunity. The same man that had sent the game to overtime sent FC Dallas to the Eastern Conference final but the big hero was Jesse Gonzalez with his two big saves in the penalty shootout.

Oscar Pareja's team will face the Portland Timbers who won 0-2 over the Vancouver Whitecaps on the road.

Columbus Crew vs Impact Montreal

Didier Drogba's did not have the impact on the game that Montreal would have hoped for and now they are heading home for vacations after they failed to maintain their 2-1 lead against Columbus Crew. Columbus had not beaten the Canadian team in their last three meetings but they did when it mattered the most.

Kei Kamara gave the Crew a very early lead when the match clock was only signaling four minutes. The goal came from a play that was started by Federico Higuain and Waylon Francis giving the final assist. Montreal found the equalizer right before halftime with a goal from Dilly Duka assisted by Victor Cabrera.

It took a while for Columbus to get back on the scoreboard, but they finally did in the 77th minute of the game via Ethan Finlay. Drogba, who had scored 12 goals in 13 games prior to this Conference semi-final, had four shots on goal during this game but none of them went in. He was called offside once.

The game went into overtime and Kei Kamara came back in the 111th minute of the game to seal the deal for the home side. They had not won a post-season game since 2010 and had struggled playing against Montreal all season long. Now Columbus will be facing the New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference Final.

Drogba was still gracious in defeat
