The 2015 edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Chile has produced the first all-African final in 22 years.

The global football event has showcased some of the top promising talents from different countries across the world, including thrilling goals. When the two African nations lock horns in the finals on Sunday, all eyes will be on Mali who are expected to dethrone reigning champions Nigeria and secure their first ever trophy in the competition at the Estadio Sausalito.

Nigeria are the more experienced side in the competition so far, having reached the finals for the eighth time in their last 11 attempts. On the other side, Mali’s boys have never reached the finals before. However,  the Malians are the reigning African Under-17 champions. The two sides avoided each other back at the continental level after Nigeria lost to South Africa and Mali beat Guinea to proceed to the finals.

Yesterday, during the semi-finals, both Mali and Nigeria came from down to defeat their opponents Belgium and Mexico respectively. But the semi final match between Nigeria and Mexico provided some flashes of brilliance and world-class goals from both sides.

Watch the highlights of the thrilling semi-final between Mexico and Nigeria here:

Nigeria boats of having Victor Osimhen, this year’s top scorer in the tournament. He is also the all-time joint top-scorer of the tournament alongside Souleymane Coulibaly of Ivory Coast and Florent Sinama Pongolle from France. The two top-scorers from Ivory Coast and France played in the 2011 and 2001 tournaments respectively.

Nigeria made history by winning eight out of their last eight games in the tournament after their victory over the El Tri in Chile. Additionally, the West Africans also destroyed Mexico’s record of winning their last three semi-final matches in a row.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation, through its president Amaju Pinnick, has expressed its support for the Golden Eaglets to win their fifth FIFA U17 World Cup title.

Speaking during a post-match interview with the press, the NFF boss said:

“These boys have done Nigeria proud. They will go up against Mali on Sunday with great confidence and discipline and emerge victorious.''

“I’m very excited, not only with the result, but the way the boys came fighting back after that early goal by Mexico. I keep saying that we have the potential to be world champions in several areas of endeavour.”

He added:
