Arsenal, with their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread, will face back-to-back clashes with the German giants, but Mesut is not worried.

Arsenal's chances of making it into the round of 16 of the Champions League hangs by a thread, with the Gunners sitting dead bottom in their group.

Two consecutive defeats in their first two games, a trip to Dinamo Zagreb and a home encounter with Olympiakos, leaves Wenger’s crew with zero points, having conceded five goals along the way.

Furthermore, there next two European ties, which will be make or break for their hopes of qualification, are with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, a side who eliminated the north London team from the Champions League in two of the last three seasons.

Nonetheless, star playmaker Mesut Ozil argues that Arsenal have nothing to fear, claiming that should they replicate the form that saw them brush aside Manchester United 3-0 on Sunday, a win against Guardiola’s men is possible.

“It is true that there is a lot of pressure on us in the Champions League. We can beat Bayern, though, if we play at the same level as against Manchester United,” said the former Real Madrid midfielder.

Arsenal can beat Bayern, says Ozil, should they perform similar to Sunday's 3-0 win over United

The Bavarians themselves enjoyed a big win last weekend over rivals Borussia Dortmund, thrashing them 5-1, a score line which Ozil admits left him shocked. Nonetheless, the 26-year-old remains adamant that the Gunners are not afraid of Bayern.

“I was a bit surprised to see Bayern beat Dortmund 5-1. Bayern’s results show that they are in great form.

“We have a lot of respect for Bayern, but we are not afraid of them. We are playing at home and we know how to score goals and be successful against Bayern.

"Of course, it will not be easy, but we have the potential to beat any team.”
