Spanish striker Diego Costa did not make the ref's job easier during the game between Chelsea and Arsenal. The former Atletico Madrid man was involved in a number of arguments with the Gunners' defenders, and even got center back Gabriel sent off by provoking him constantly. Arsenal's player ended up being sent off following a taunt by the Brazilian-born player.
Even Arsenal's coach Arsene Wenger complained about Costa's display today.
"Costa twice should be sent off. He hits him in the face in purpose. In every game he has aggravation and he gets away with it because of the weakness of the referee. We knew before the game he is only looking at that. Gabriel should not have responded at all but the two sending offs for us and Costa staying on the pitch is a shame," Wenger stated.
Even if Costa's display was not what you would call "fair play", stats show the ref apparently had no reason to book him.
