It's not usual to hear a coach criticizing his players, but normal rules don't apply to José Mourinho. Today, the Portuguese manager blasted away during an interview, criticizing most of his starters for the poor display shown in the two Premier League games Chelsea has played, which ended with a 2-2 score against Swansea and a baffling 3-0 defeat against Manchester City.
"I'm not happy with Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, John Terry, César Azpilicueta, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fábregas and Nemanja Matic. None of them is making me happy, and I might add, I haven't made myself happy," Mou stated.
The Portuguese boss did not mention Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois, Asmir Begovic, Oscar and Willian, who have completed the team's starting lineups in the past two games.
Despite not revealing what aspects of his players' performances made him unhappy, the Portuguese boss went even further to explain why he is not happy with the way he has coached.
"I'm not happy with myself because I used to perform better during this stage of the season. I have done a better job in the past than the one I'm doing now," he coach added.
Mourinho will have the chance to change whatever he wants on Sunday, when the Blues face West Brom at The Hawthorns. His squad will include new signing Baba Rahman and possibly wingman Pedro, who completed his move this week after much speculation about his future.
