The French striker missed most of the pre-season games with an injury. Benzema could play two games with Madrid before the transfer window closes.

Arsenal does not want to stay behind in landing a big name this summer after Pedro is going to Chelsea and Memphis Depay chose to join Manchester United. Reports in England suggest that Arsenal is already negotiating with Real Madrid a £48m offer in order to get Karim Benzema.

Multiple sources claim this to be true

Arsenal fans are on the edge of their seats

While the negotiation is not expected to be finalized within the next hours, Benzema's future away from Madrid looks like a real possibility. The offer has apparently already convinced the men of Real Madrid. At the same time, some sources suggest that Benzema could play his last game with Madrid in the second week of La Liga.

Benzema will not be making the trip to Madrid's first game due to an injury

The transfer window closes on September 1. Arsene Wenger is likely to wait and see how Benzema plays in the games prior to the transfer window closing in order to make a final offer. Madrid will play Sporting Gijon in the first week and Real Betis at home one week later.

Some people are not buying it

At the same time, Benzema seems to be eager to move whenever Arsenal completes the move. The 27-year- old striker even tweeted thanking Real and confirming his move to London. That tweet was quickly erased but it shows that the transfer may happen even before Wenger plans to have it done. Or was it fake?

The highly-controversial tweet

After a two-year hunt, we could be less than two weeks away from seeing Benzema in a Arsenal jersey. He joined Los Merengues in 2009 from Olympique Lyon. Just last year he renewed his contract until 2019 but it is possible that he won't go that far.

If Madrid lets Benzema go, they will most likely look for a replacement. Even though it may seem almost impossible to replace Karim, there is one option cooking behind closed doors. Some reports claim that Sergio Aguero would become the the man to replace Benzema.

The French footballer scored over 120 goals for Real Madrid, while Aguero finished the 2014-2015 Premier League season as the top scorer, ahead of wonderboy Harry Kane of Tottenham. The BBC would transform into the ABC in case that happens. PSG's Edinson Cavani is another option Real is looking into.
