After a successful outing against the Thai all stars, Liverpool will be hoping they can carry the winning mentality to their next match against the Australian side. In their opening match after the break, Rodgers' men recorded an easy 4-0 victory over the Thailand All stars.

The match which saw Brendan Rodgers field two different sides in either half, also featured Liverpool debuts for the likes of Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Danny Ings. Last year's signing Lazar Markovic  opened up the scoring for the away side after capitalizing on a through ball from Joao Teixeira.

Danny Ings  appeared in festive mood and was bright throughout the course of the first half. The former Burnley man did score a goal only for it to be disallowed after Sakho  committed a foul in the buildup. The Frenchman however made up for his mistake getting on the score sheet just three minutes prior to half time.

Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner and Divock Origi were among the players to enter the fray in the second half but it was the old boys who combined well together as Jordan Henderson's brilliant rabona pass resulted in the third goal scored by Adam Lallana. Origi  who spent the last season on loan at Lille was eager to make an impact. The Belgian twice came close to scoring and finally got his goal in the 86th minute.

With Raheem Sterling having sealed a 49 million pound move to Manchester City, Liverpool will definitely be looking for a few players to replace the prodigal winger. However Liverpool legends Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush have insisted that the club can find replacements within the squad.

"Raheem Sterling is a very good player but ultimately it's his decision, he wanted to move elsewhere," Fowler said.

"As a club I think they have respected the player and it happens in football. It happened when we lost an unbelievable player in Luis Suarez and this year we've lost Raheem Sterling.

"It's up to the young players now to come through and maybe try and forget about Raheem Sterling and what he's done. Hopefully the new players will shine a little bit more."

Ian Rush voiced a similar opinion and also stressed on the importance of Liverpool having a good pre season.

"Raheem has gone now so we've got to look to the future,"

"There are a lot of great players at Liverpool. We've got to concentrate on pre-season and the players we have.

"It's like everything, everyone comes and goes. Kenny Dalglish, Luis Suarez, whoever. At the end of the day we'll concentrate on what we've got and l'm looking forward to it because we have a lot of good new signings.

"I think pre-season is to gel all of them together. Hopefully when the first day of the season comes, we've got a team that knows each other."
