The two European powerhouses will lock horns in the FIFA Women’s World Cup last 8, with expectations of a thrilling tie on the high.

On Friday, two of women’s football’s two strongest nations, France and Germany, will lock horns in the quarter-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The European sides will lock horns in Montreal, with the prospect of facing USA, England, Canada, Japan, or Australia in the next round awaiting.

Germany are ranked number one in the world, France number third, however, both have stats backing them to secure progression.

In 20 years, two-time champion Die Nationalelf have not lost against a European opponent in this tournament, winning five encounters and drawing three, a track record which runs back to 1995.

Les Blues on the other hand, undefeated in the World Cup, have gotten the better of Germany in recent times, and are unbeaten in their last three meetings.

Germany appear favorites to come out victorious, having eliminated heavyweights Sweden from the tournament in the previous round. Philippe Bergeroo’s crew, however, are not to be taken easy, having dumped South Korea in the play offs.
