The Spanish center back is clearly unhappy with the way his contract negotiations have gone with Los Blancos, raising doubts concerning his immediate future with the team.

The novel about Sergio Ramos' future saw another chapter written today, with the Spanish center back being offered a huge contract to join Manchester United. Old Trafford's owners have placed a bid to sign Ramos for the next four years, with his wage reaching 12 million euros during his first year with the club.

Sources indicate that Ramos is not happy with his current contract, and he is asking for a wage improvement as Florentino Perez promised him right after Los Blancos won "La Décima" last year. Ramos' contract with the team runs until 2017, and his possible departure from Los Blancos has raised criticism among fans who believe that the team's president should try harder and keep one of the locker room's leaders.

Just hours after presenting the bid, Real Madrid rejected it, since they are still trying to negotiate a wage increase for the Spanish International.

Since the first days of June, Real Madrid has been trying to sign United's keeper David De Gea to take over the shot-stopping duties for Los Blancos, substituting Iker Casillas. Some sources indicated that United's intention as that of forcing a player swap which would include Ramos, but knowing that De Gea's contract with the Red Devils expires next year, it would be rather surprising to see Los Blancos swapping one of the team's leaders for a player they can get almost for free next season.

Reports coming from Spain suggest that newly appointed coach Rafa Benitez asked the management to decide about those players who will be transferred by July 11th, since the team will be on a preseason tour, and he doesn't want to have any players around that will end up departing before the season starts.
