Which other team but Hamburg put faith in injury-hit Ruud van Nistelrooy when the player felt it was time to leave Real Madrid? According to the Dutch striker, the answer is ‘no other team’ apart from his current German Bundesliga side.

Hamburg's Ruud van Nistelrooy pictured during a training sessionRuud van Nistelrooy is presently providing Hamburg with remarkable performances and he has scored three goals already in two German Bundesliga matches. The Dutch has subsequently emerged as one of the fans’ favorite, but some anxious people have started speculating about his future.

However, Nistelrooy is calm about this subject as he prefers to concentrate on his football. Talking to Hamburger Abendblatt, the HSV player stated:

"I often get asked if I’ll return to Netherlands to end my playing career. But I think that this is not a really an issue at the moment for me.

"Things can change quickly in the world of football and I’m aware of that. On that note, it doesn’t make sense for me at all to look too far ahead.

"The moment I decide to hang up my boots, there will be no way back. I’ve got several years ahead of me."

Ruud van Nistelrooy then avowed that a contract extension with Hamburg would please him. He continued:

"I want to enjoy my career till it’s over. If Hamburg chose to extend my contract, I would consider their offer, certainly. To join HSV was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

"There were not a lot of teams that still put their faith in me after I overcame my injury problems. On the contrary, Hamburg did have faith in me. I won’t forget that."
