Klinsmann was the German manager during the 2006 World Cup. The last time they met was in the 2014 World Cup and Germany won.

The United States got off to an impressive start in their European tour when they were able to come back and win a very close game against the Netherlands in Amsterdam. It was not easy for Jurgen Klinsmann to get the job done and now, when they face the number one team in the world, is is expected to just get harder.

Jurgen Klinsmann returns to Germany as the enemy this time. After taking the team to the semi-finals in the 2006 World Cup, which the Germans hosted, he is back but not expected to receive a warm welcome at Cologne.

Klinsmann wants to make the most out of his visit

For the former Germany-international, it is important that his players get exposed to this kind of competition. The opportunity to play against the best in the world is not only a tactical challenge but a mental challenge when doing so in enemy territory.

At the end of the epic game in Dutch territory, Klinsmann said that the confidence given by that kind of outcomes is great, but that games are not played the same way when they face their CONCACAF counterparts. During the Gold Cup, Klinsmann expects that their opponents will be the ones waiting for them to attack.

Yedlin showed that playing with Tottenham has helped him

For now, they know they will be facing a team that is superior to them on paper. They may have to rely on counterattacks just like they did last Friday. Klinsmann had to go from a 4-3-3 formation in the first half to a 4-2-3-1 in the second period. It was by getting DeAndre Yedlin on the pitch that the U.S. created more danger.

Germany won 1-0 when the two teams met it Recife during the past World Cup. Now, the battle continues in Germany and the home side expects a similar outcome. The team has not enjoyed a solid post-World Cup scenario in which losing against Poland and finishing with a draw against Ireland have a lot of people talking.

The team managed by Joachim Low is looking forward to extend their domination over the Yanks. They have beaten the United States in four of their last five encounters. Their goal here is to regain some confidence going into their next Euro Qualifier match against Gibraltar.

Germany is patiently waiting for their turn to attack

Mario Gotze, Mesut Ozil and Bastian Schweinsteiger headline the 20-man list that Low called for this game. One of their most important absences is their star goalkeeper Manuel Neuer due to fatigue and also Thomas Muller was not considered for this game. 13 of the players that won the World Cup were included in the list, with only three from the Bundesliga champion, Bayern Munich.

Borussia Monchengladbach winger Patrick Herrmann could be making his debut this time in just his second call to the senior National Team. Low said that his team is ready for whatever Jurgen brings to his homeland in what should be a very special game.
