The Man United goalkeeper sent the Red Devils faithful into panic after deciding to head to the Spanish capital, flying back home on Monday evening.

On Monday, at 8:20pm to be precise, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea touched down in Madrid, his home city, after catching a flight from Liverpool airport, sending the Red Devils faithful into panic.

This, of course, is due to the clouds of doubt that float over the hot-shot Spanish custodian’s future at Old Trafford, with La Liga giants Real Madrid reportedly keen on signing the 24-year-old this summer.

Much to the relief of the Manchester United supporters, De Gea was only in the Spanish capital for vacation, as he and the rest of the English Premier League side’s squad were handed some rest period until Wednesday.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper’s decision to immediately jet out to Madrid for the holiday will, however, do little to douse rumors of a summer switch to Los Blancos, with the 10-time Champions League winners identifying De Gea as the ideal man to replace club captain Iker Casillas.

De Gea, having arrived at Old Trafford back in 2011, has quickly grown into one of the world’s finest, as a stellar season between the sticks looks to have all but guaranteed United a return to the Champions League.

However, a move to Santiago Bernabeu will not come easy as Louis Van Gaal looks to hold on to his prized asset. Furthermore, the transfer appears to have been further complicated, as stated in a report by MARCA (per 101 Great Goals).

According to the Spanish publication, despite landing on the receiving end of boos and jeers by the Real Madrid fans, and the club’s board being eager to ship out Casillas, the 33-year-old has no intentions of leaving Les Merengues before his contract runs out, in 2017.
