Mou was interested in taking him to Inter, Real and even Chelsea. Gerrard will be on loan with L.A. Galaxy starting this summer.

Jose Mourinho is about to meet with Steven Gerrard one more time, but now, this could be the last time they face each other as Liverpool's captain is heading to the United States this summer. The 52-year-old manager has nothing but respect for the man who has played over 700 games with Liverpool (707).

The Special One says he has learned a lot from players like Gerrard throughout his career. The 34-year-old midfielder was in Mourinho's radar for a long time. He tried to convince Gerrard on going with him to teams like Real Madrid, Inter and even Chelsea.

"He's done an amazing career with his people. He refused to play in other big clubs, other big leagues to play only for Liverpool and this is a feeling that stays together."

Now, as Gerrard gets ready to head out all the way to Los Angeles, he has one more meeting with Mourinho. The Portugues manager has claimed that thanks to players like Stevie G, he has become a better manager.

'It is my time to honour the champion,' Mourinho claimed. 'It's my time to honour Steve Gerrard and say with opponents like him that I am the manager I am."

Chelsea already clinched it's fifth Premier League title but they don't plan on making it easy on Liverpool. Mourinho wants all the points left in dispute in the last three games. He knows that having Gerrard on the other side, won't make it easy no matter how many years go by.

"To stop him or try to stop him has been very, very difficult. I lost against him, I won, I drew. I am very sad it's the last time I play against him."

Gerrard had his debut with Liverpool on November 29, 1998. 17 years later, he has chosen to take his undisputable talent somewhere else. Will be forever missed at Anfield, not only by the locals, but by their opponents like Mou. Stevie G already has his iconic number "8" waiting for him with L.A. Galaxy.
