The French manager regretted Fabregas left the team back in 2011, and expects fans not to be too harsh on the midfielder when he visits Emirates Stadium this weekend.

Even if some of Arsenal's fans are still broken-hearted by Cesc Fabregas' decision to return to the Premier League with Chelsea instead of them, Gunner coach Arsene Wenger expects his supporters can put their feelings aside and give a warm welcome to their former midfielder. The French coach even went further and revealed that letting Fabregas go was one of the things he would change if given the chance.

"I know we were a huge influence in his life and it's quite uncomfortable having to explain why he left here in the first place. That's the thing I regret the most, letting him go. I think that every player should be respected when they visit our stadium and it shouldn't be different with him. He should be welcomed here with the amount of respect he deserves," Le Prof stated.

Speaking about another matchup against one of his biggest rivals, Arsene Wenger feels confident his players will be able to defeat Jose Mourinho's side for the first time, considering that Arsenal hasn't been able to beat Chelsea during Mourinho's two terms as the Blues' boss.

"I don't think we've always lost against them, we came close once or twice to defeating them, and I believe on Sunday we will have a good chance of ending their run against us. Sunday's game is not about the relationship between the two managers, it's about watching a good game," Wenger added.

During the team's first meeting this season, Wenger angrily pushed Mourinho away after a series of decisions made by the ref, which infuriated the French boss.

With Chelsea's current advantage over the Gunners in the EPL title race, Wenger knows it will be hard to catch the Blues, but Sunday's game might give them a chance to not throw away their title hopes.

"Chelsea has the chance of winning the title in their hands, what we can do is get closer to them so that we can keep our championship chances alive. All we have to do is try to take it," Wenger concluded.
