Chelsea's hopes for a treble are still alive after surviving an excruciating League Cup semi-final against Liverpool. With Brendan Rodgers' men deserving better luck, it was Jose Mourinho's crew who managed to score in the opening minutes of extra time, sealing their spot in the Final match.
During regulation, Liverpool enjoyed the best scoring chances. Philippe Coutinho's antics were too much to handle for Chelsea's defenders, and he was close to putting the ball into the back of Courtois' net, but the Belgian shot-stopper denied him with his foot. The Blues fought back with through balls to Diego Costa and efforts by Eden Hazard, but neither side was able to score during the first 90 minutes of the game.
When the game resumed, Chelsea were awarded a free kick on the right hand side of the pitch. Willian put the ball into the box for Branislav Ivanovic who headed the ball into the back of the net. Facing elimination, Liverpool tried hard to make it 1-1 and force the penalty shootout, but Mourinho's side appeared to be more dominant of the game and even came close on scoring the second goal thanks to shots by Oscar and Ramires. Liverpool shot 34 times in this two legged semi-final, but were able to score just once against the Blues. This was the first time in seven matches in which the Reds were not able to score at Stamford Bridge.
Ivanovic's goal had Chelsea's fans celebrating. Scroll down and read what they said about their team's upcoming trip to Wembley!

25/11/2014 - Willian’s last assist for Chelsea in all competitions came in November against FC Schalke 04. Heartbreaker.

And of course, fans had a blast after Balotelli's poor defending against Ivanovic.
Balotelli has barely had a shred of game time in the past two and a half months, and games like these are not going to help his confidence.
