Despite having offers to continue his career, the ex-Juventus striker decided to hang his boots and take other activities linked to football.

French striker David Trezeguet decided to put an end to his historic career after 22 years as a professional footballer. The former Juventus and Monaco player revealed through his agent that he had decided to end his playing days.

Trezeguet started his career playing for Platense back in 1993. He played there for two years before moving to Monaco, where he showed his class for five years, winning two Ligue 1 titles with the red-and-white team. After his stint with Monaco, Trezeguet signed with Juventus, where he became a fan favorite for his performances, but mostly because he was one of the few household names that remained with the club after the Vecchia Signora was relegated for the Calciopoli scandal in 2006.

After helping Juventus back into top-flight football, Trezeguet played for the Bianconeri until 2011, when he decided to join Spanish outfit Hercules. Playing in La Liga for only 31 games, Trezeguet joined Arab team Bayinas, but he was out of shape and decided to terminate his commitment. Weeks after that, he signed with Argentinian club River Plate, helping Los Millonarios back to the Primera Division. He played there for two years, and ended up being loaned to Newells Old Boys before joining the I-League, scoring two goals for F.C. Pune City.

With the French National team, Trezeguet won the 1998 World Cup, playing six matches and scoring one goal against Saudi Arabia. He also won the Euro 2000 with Les Bleus, scoring the Golden Goal against Italy.

Trezeguet also played for France in the 2002 World Cup, where the defending Champions finished last after being defeated by Senegal and Denmark, earning just one point against Uruguay. Being called up by coach Raymond Domenech for the 2006 WC held in Germany, Trezeguet played three games for Les Bleus, including the Final match against Italy, where he missed his penalty kick to give the Azzurri the title.
