Spurs can end the group in first place should they avoid defeat during their Europa League encounter against Besiktas. Both sides have claimed qualification to the next round but will continue to fight for the top spot when they clash at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı.
The North London side has been unbeaten in 18 Europa League group matches and will be confident of going through the next round, top of Group C. However Pochettino's men are yet to hit the ground running in the league and are currently 10th in the table.
Tottenham suffered a 3-0 thumping at the hands of city rivals Chelsea before being held by Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane and their manager has blamed the busy fixture list as the cause of their bad performance.
"It wasn't an easy game," he conceded. "We didn't show the freshness we had against Everton. I'm not happy with our performance and I think the draw is fair."
"Maybe it is because we have played four games in nine days or three games in six days -- maybe this was the problem."
"It is not easy when you play against Chelsea when they have one day more for recovery, he added.
"Then today when we play Palace and we have two days for recovery and they have three days.
"It [need for recovery time] is a little advantage for the opponent -- we had a lack of freshness. It is massive but it is not an excuse."
The match ended in a draw when the two sides met in the reverse fixture and Besiktas will have to do better than that if they are to leapfrog their counterparts to the top of the table. However they will be without their talismanic striker Demba Ba who scored the equalizer when the two sides at the White Hart Lane.
Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson is suspended for the game after receiving two bookings in the match against Asteras. Federico Fazio will return to the side for Tottenham who are likely to be without Vlad Chiriches and Kyle Naughton. However Tottenham are set to welcome back full back Kyle Walker to the squad who returns after a nine month injury lay off. Emmanuel Adebayor will not be part of the Tottenham squad as well after the Togo international was allowed to travel to Africa owing to personal reasons.
