The former Real Madrid star was a top transfer target for PSG, only to see the deal fall though.

Although he eventually became Manchester United's--and the Premier League's most expensive signing at £59.7 million, it was no secret that Angel Di Maria was a top target for Ligue 1 champions PSG this summer.

However, in the end, Les Parisiens ended up being slapped with a hefty £50 million fine for violating FFP and had to abandon any hopes of bringing the 2014 Champions League winner to the French capital.

And now the new signing has discussed exactly why he was unable to make the move to Paris, but interestingly also offered his thoughts on any possibility of plying his trade in French football's top flight.

"I think the problem with PSG was their money issues," he recently stated in an interview.

"This is the main reason I did not go there. Playing in the French league would please a lot of players. [However, while] I am now in the Premier League, you never know, there is a lot of movement in football [so] you can never predict where you are going to play."

Interestingly, not only did he go on to not rule out eventually trying his luck in France, but also highlighted Manchester United's persistence as the one thing that brought him to Old Trafford.

"There were a lot of clubs interested in me, but Manchester United absolutely wanted me and made [the move] happen. [Still], it could have been a good experience for me to go to Paris. I know I am still young, perhaps I will go to PSG one day. I do not know how it will all end."
