Chelsea could make a push to sign the Dortmund star by offloading one of their players.

Unless if one has been living under a rock or in a cave somewhere, one would certainly be quite aware of the transfer buzz surrounding Marco Reus.

Although the 25-year-old was unfortunately unable to play any role in die Mannschaft's World Cup winning campaign this summer, the Dortmund star is still the target of numerous big clubs around Europe.

Die Schwarzgelben fans were certainly dismayed as reports emerged earlier this season about Reus being disgruntled with proceedings at the club, as despite doing well in the Champions League, they have floundered so far in league play. Of particular concern was apparently the sale of star duo Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski in successive seasons to rivals Bayern Munich.

Current Premier League leaders Chelsea are one of the teams interested in his services, with £20 million being named as the price to bring him on board. However, recent reports indicate that the Blues could opt to make a real push for the German star by including one of his compatriots in a swap deal.

Andre Schurrle thus far has struggled to nail down a place in the starting XI and Jose Mourinho did not attempt to hide his criticism of the player following the team's struggle to earn a 2-1 result against Shrewsbury in a recent Capital One cup clash.

Despite winning a World Cup with Germany this past summer, Schurrle could be swapped for his international compatriot Reus

As per reports, Schurrle's departure could facilitate a move to London for Reus as not only would they get him off their books, but also could also make money on him if they are not able to complete an out-and-out swap.

With the January transfer window set to kick off in less than two months, it will be interesting to observe if Chelsea opt to make their move then or to wait until May as they seek to establish themselves as a dominant force not just in England, but in Europe.
