Tottenham staged a brilliant comeback in their last outing against Aston Villa as two late strikes handed them all three points. Weimann scored for the home side in the first half who seemed to be running away with maximum points until Chadli got himself on the score sheet. Harry Kane’s deflected free kick in the 90th minute sent the Spurs fans into raptures as they recorded only their fourth win in ten league games this season.
Kane has established himself as a fan favorite at the club and manager Mauricio Pochettino praised the 21 year old for his performance also claiming that the youngster will get more first team opportunities in the future.
"He had the possibility to score and he scored the second goal," the Spurs boss said. "He had a big impact. We’re very happy with him because in every competition he has played in he has scored.
"We have a lot of good players in that position but I’m happy with his performance and maybe in the future he has more to play. I’m also happy for him today as I think the three points is very important for us."
Tottenham have not been at their best this season but the Argentinean tactician has pleaded for the Tottenham faithful to give him more time.
"I am happy and I always smile. Football is a game, its business too. When you have a tough moment you need to be calm and strong. I am strong, I don’t feel the pressure.
"I understand my job and the supporters, but we need to look forward to be strong. When we arrived we knew the situation wasn’t good and in the future we’re looking to build something special.
"In that process you need time."
Tottenham will be looking for a positive result having thrashed Asteras 5-1 in their last European outing. Spurs drew their opening two matches of the competition but a victory last time out leaves them at the top of the group with three more matches to be played. However Tottenham will be eager to win all three points on Thursday, failure to do so can allow Besiktas to leapfrog them who trail the North London side on goal difference only.
If Tottenham successfully beat their counterparts on Thursday they will be the first team to have recorded a win at Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium this season.
