Cristiano Ronaldo claims he is confident Real Madrid can become the first side in history to retain there UEFA Champions League title, whilst promising he will beat Los Blancos legend Raul's all-time goalscoring record, as rival Lionel Messi ramains in hot pursuit.

The Portuguese star made these comments after he lead his side to a convincing 3-0 win over English Premier League giants Liverpool, grabbing a third consecutive victory as they maintained their 100 percent start to the group-stage.

The former Manchester United star moved within a goal of Raul's record, insisting it will only be a matter of time before he surpasses the former La Furia Roja star.

"I'm not worried, I'm going to beat his record... whether now or another night. Lionel Messi is close too," said Ronaldo

"It's a team win. We have nine points so 75% of the qualification is done."

When the topic of retaining the Champions League crown came up, Ronaldo responded with: "Why not?"

"We're going to try. We know it's going to be very tough, but we're very positive. It's possible if we play like that."

Cristiano, who failed to manage a single goal at the famous Anfield stadium during his six-year spell at Old Trafford, experienced a special night at the Merseyside club's home ground as the 29-year-old finally scored in front of the Liverpool faithful with a 23rd minute strike.
