Tottenham suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of defending English champions Manchester City and will now be looking to make amends when they face Asteras Tripolis at home. Sergio Aguero scored four times and Soldado missed a penalty as Spurs suffered yet another big loss at the hands of the citizens.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino expressed his disappointment over the result and claimed that two key moments changed the course of the game.
"The first key moment was the first penalty, because for me it wasn't a penalty," said Pochettino.
"And after our penalty, the second chance ... a big save [from] Joe Hart - this was the [second] key moment."
Despite the defeat the former Southampton manager was positive and also had words of encouragement for his compatriot Federico Fazio who he thought had a good game despite of receiving his marching orders.
"I'm disappointed with the result, because it's tough to us, but I think we need to take positives from this game and improve," he added.
"I think Fazio was good. He had a good performance. It's a shame, the penalty and the red card."
The North London side has not fared well in Europe either having drawn both their opening matches in the group stages against Partizan and Besiktas.
Asteras on the other hand will be in a buoyant mood, having beaten Partizan in their last European encounter courtesy of goals from Parra and Usero. They earned a draw in their opening match against Besiktas which means the Greek side is currently top of Group C and they will be hoping to maintain that by picking up maximum points against Tottenham.
Asteras are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions which also includes four wins but the Greek side has not won in seven away European fixtures which should be a source of concern for them. However they can take confidence from the fact that Tottenham's only home group stage defeat came at the hands of another Greek club PAOK.
Further to this Tottenham have not been particularly impressive against Greek opposition and in their last six games against clubs from the country they have won, drawn and lost two matches apiece.
