The World Cup winner and former Bayern Munich executive said he was surprised Qatar earned the 2022 bid, given the extreme temperatures in that country during summer time.

German legend Franz Beckenbauer asked FIFA to make the World Cup corruption investigation public. The former FIFA and Bayern Munich exec ignores why Joseph Blatter wants to handle the matter internally, being the World Cup a public event:

"Personally, there is nothing to hide. If you have nothing to hide you can publish it and divulge it," Beckenbauer told the press. "The Kaiser" did not disclose who did he vote for, but stated that he was not influenced in any way to vote for a certain bid.

"As fas as the vote is concerned, I cannot say anything because it was a secret ballot and I have to observe this agreement made at the time. Nobody offered me anything in order to influence my vote," Beckenbauer added.

After coaching back-to-back World Cup final matches, Beckenbauer expressed his surprise after the announcement was made about Qatar's victory:

"I was surprised Qatar won. In the summer it's not possible to play football there, despite the fact they developed a system to cool the stadiums in order to create more comfortable temperatures. Technically speaking, it's possible, but is it necessary? It wastes a lot of energy", Beckenbauer added.

The World Cup vote investigation, led by Michael Garcia, may be damaging to FIFA's image, being this the probable cause why Joseph Blatter doesn't want the report to be available for the public.
