The Arsenal manager attacked his Chelsea opponent during a side-line spat, sending social media into a frenzy.

Last time Chelsea and Arsenal met, it was not a day to remember fondly for  Gunners supporters as Arsene Wenger's historic milestone was ruined after a 6-0 humiliation at the hands of the Blues.

To make matters more interesting, former captain Cesc Fabregas signed for the 2012 Champions League winners this summer, enraging legions of Arsenal followers due to the Spaniard's long-term stay with the London club.

The match was even delayed due to some fan ruckus, setting the stage for what would be a spicy match from start to finish.

Early on in the first half, a fight broke out...but not between players. No, it was Arsene Wenger squaring up to Jose Mourinho due to a nasty foul that the Frenchman felt should have been adequately punished.

Given the nature of the clash, it was not surprising to see tempers flaring up early on, with Wenger taking on Mourinho on the sideline:

And as usual, the Twitter reactions, with this one showing they have way too much free time with Photoshop:
